Each of our EarthWise™ products has been designed to be fully HOME-COMPOSTABLE. Being home compostable does not require the product to go to any special facility, or be under high temperatures for over 6 months as some other Industrial Compostable products on the market require.
We have diligently researched and vetted that our EarthWise™ products and packaging can compost in your own home garden. Our Tagua Vegetable Ivory Jewelry is made from a natural plant nut that is grown organically and is vegan. The threads and cords used in the bracelets and necklaces are pure cotton dyed with natural vegetable dyes and when waxed are waxed with beeswax. Most commonly, the jump rings, ear wires and other clasps are made of silver plated steel. All of these items break down under natural environmental conditions and will ultimately provide nutrients for organisms- NOT toxins.
Your EarthWise™ products will provide you with the best longevity if the following care instructions are followed:
1. Do not leave under strong UV radiation or sunlight. Natural vegetable dyes will fade more quickly under those conditions.
2. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact of Tagua and cotton threads with water or strong cleaning products. This will contribute to surface crazing of the Tagua and may contribute to the fading of vegetable dyes.
3. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact of metal parts with water, salt or strong cleaning products. The Iron may begin to oxidize and may discolor the Tagua or cotton fibers.
If ever lost in the environment, EarthWise™ products are designed to decompose and to NOT pose a threat to sea turtles or other organisms.
